The Coach Farringdon

Giles Coren is a big fan of The Coach. I wish he wasn’t because honestly I really hate Giles Coren. His venomous dog whistle, click bait journalism and sensationalist use of his children in print very deeply upset me. They’re meant to I guess but still. The unfortunate problem with hating Giles Coren is that he’s always on the money about food. So as Giles Coren loves The Coach, so unfortunately do I.

It’s a beautiful pub with a romantically lit dining room and courtyard. The food is upmarket provincial French. The portions are generous and hearty. They allow dogs and children, although we opted to sit in the pub area with Max rather than the romantically lit dining room. The pub seating has couches along the wall which I generally find easier for management of a toddler when not confined to his high chair. The general thrum of the pub meant we had ample coverage for occasional shouting from Max. We weren’t even the only table with a baby.

The Coach is the kind of place where you’re going to come away with some gravy on your person, be that chin, dress, baby or all of the above.

What’s good? An exceptional veal chop an inch thick and like butter. The desserts. The ease of the place.

Kid friendly? Oui Maman.
